Work and volunteering with disadvantaged youth
I dedicate myself to reducing inequalities, working primarily with youth and disadvantaged communities. I have had the privilege of working and volunteering in this field in many countries, including Albania, Romania, Croatia, and Kenya.
In Albania, I assisted the social workers in leading an afterschool program for children of ethnic minority background. I led English classes, assisted with homework, and helped with games and activities.
In Romania, I led a 4-week summer school for youth in a village. I created interactive classes and activities about intercultural understanding and language learning.
In Croatia, I assisted the trainers in sports (capoeira) classes for children with autism and for unprivileged children such as belonging to ethnic minorities or living in poverty. I also created workshops for the local community in which participants could train and develop new soft skills.
In Kenya, I led different workshops for schoolchildren in a village, organized language and business classes for women living in a rural community, managed a community agricultural space where the products will be sold and benefit the same village women, and led creative arts workshops for children in an orphanage.
I believe that everyone should have a chance to enjoy learning and to engage in activities with their peers, independently of their economic and social possibilities. I love working with people and including them in shaping projects, as I believe in a participatory and democratic approach to project management. I feel proud of my achievements in the communities I work with and enjoy seeing that the activities are meaningful and appreciated.
