Social Economy/Sustainable Business

What is it?

Social economy and social/sustainable businesses is a topic I am starting to explore more and more. I started by writing my final dissertation for my master's on the topic of "Social Economy in Croatia and Youth Employment", and I continued by taking part in a 4-months long program at ImpacTrip, a company from Lisbon that works in the sustainable travel and volunteering sector.

My role:

In ImpacTrip, I was responsible for desk and market research. I provided the company with information on which they could base further business development decisions and create new programs, expanding their pool of volunteering options and destinations. In particular, I researched information about the presence and scope of volunteering associations in different countries, mapped out new destinations, and researched new possible partners, as well as developing new for-profit programs such as yoga retreats.

Outcome:

I contributed to the growth of the company by providing valuable information to expand and create new programs. As a result of my research, a new program "Volunteer and Learn Languages" was created and new volunteering options were activated in Greece and in the Açores.
