A political simulation about EU policymaking
What is it?
A Model European Union (MEU) is a political simulation of EU policymaking, where participants get to play the roles of Members of the Council, of the Parliament, Commissioners, Legal Advisors, Journalists, and many more.
The Model European Union Zagreb took place on April 21-23 2023 and saw the participation of 60+ young people aged 18-30 coming from 10 different countries.
My role:
As the Director General, I managed the whole project. The project lasted for 8 months and secured a grant of over 6000€ by the Government of Croatia. The project management experience included:
Finding team members and leading all the teams
Fundraising and grant writing
Budget management, helped by the supporting organization Udruga Amazonas
Workshop and logistics management
Evaluation, dissemination, and follow up
Outcome:
The event was overwhelmingly appreciated both by the team and by the participants. As a consequence of MEU Zagreb, an association was born: BETA Croatia. The scope of the association is to organize MEU Zagreb yearly.
As a direct outome of the event, a handbook on youth opportunities was created.
